MALLARD LANDING RESIDENT HONORED
Virginia B. Layfield, a resident of Mallard Landing, has the distinction of having one of Peninsula Regional Medical Centers new buildings named in her honor. The Layfield Tower will be part of PRMC's $100 million planned expansion. Mrs. Layfield also holds the distinction of being the 'First Lady' of Mallard Landing. She was an advisory board member during the development of the retirement community and in 1998 became one of its first residents.
Working from 1948 to 1991 in various capacities at what was to become Peninsula Regional Medical Center, she rose from an emergency room nurse to become president, holding that position three times. Mrs. Layfield is currently a member of the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors.
